There are two Cleveland Guardians Employee Assistance Programs that are available to teammates: Cleveland Guardians Internal EAP; and ESI EAP.
What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)? An employee assistance program is a voluntary employee benefit that assists teammates with problems impacting their mental and emotional well-being. Here are some examples of areas employee assistance programs can support: managing anxiety, feelings of loneliness or isolation, challenges of working from home and balancing work/home life, occupational stress or burnout, family problems, crisis management, and much more. Any area that is causing employees mental or emotional distress is an appropriate one for EAP services.
Who is eligible for the EAPs? The EAPs are available to all front office teammates, their spouses, and dependent children.
Are the EAPs confidential? Within the EAPs, there is strict adherence to all federal and state statutes that have to do with confidentiality. The program is designed so that strict confidentiality is maintained.
Is there a cost to participate in the EAPs? There is no cost to speak with EAP program administrators or counselors. If referred to another health provider, costs for participation would fall under your insurance coverage program.

Cleveland Guardians Internal EAP:
The highly regarded internal Employee Assistance Program was established in 1995 to provide all employees with ready access to help for any number of problems. This is part of the Cleveland Guardians’ commitment to improving the quality of life for its employees. The program is designed to include all the features of such programs that are common to business and industry, while simultaneously meeting the unique needs of the employees of a professional sports franchise.
Purpose
Through the Employee Assistance Program, the Cleveland Guardians Baseball Organization offers a means for employees to obtain licensed professional help for problems that they or their family members might face. These licensed professionals include licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed mental health counselors, and psychiatrists There are a range of problems that are addressed by these providers such as the following:
substance use abuse (drug, alcohol, tobacco, smokeless tobacco); marital discord; interpersonal relationships; occupational stress; mental health needs, and other areas. These problem areas are addressed by means of a customize approach, in collaboration with the individual and that considers the individual in terms of their culture, language, ethnicity, and relevant context.
The program is designed so that strict confidentiality is maintained. The program also is intended to be supportive in nature, not punitive. It is hoped that the early identification of a problem will result in resolution before the problem worsens or an employee becomes unemployable.
